Hands that rock the cradle can hold a steering wheel too. That is what Sunita Bhogle has proven, driving a school bus for the last 12 years. It's a career choice she has made consciously and enjoys the support of her husband Sanjeev. Sunita braves Mumbai traffic every day to drive school children from home to school and back most of the days.
Breaking the stereotypes, 32-year-old Sridevi became the first female driver of the state owned North-Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) in Karnataka’s Hubli. Inspired by her father, Sridevi decided to follow his path and chose driving as a full-time profession. In the initial days of her journey, she joined VRL, a private transport company and learned to drive heavy vehicles. She later got selected for a driver-cum-conductor post at the NWKRTC.
